Entrepreneurship is a challenging but exciting journey

Many people aspire to become entrepreneurs but often struggle with knowing where to start. Some believe it is too difficult and never take the first step, while others assume it is too easy and fail within a short period after the launch. Recognizing these challenges, TeneLearning, an educational center in Tenerife, Spain organized a specialized workshop as part of the Unleash Potential Erasmus+ KA210-ADU project. This workshop focused on entrepreneurship and its many aspects, equipping 20 participants from Spain, Italy, and Lithuania with the necessary knowledge and tools to succeed in their business ventures.

Olga Keliy, Co-founder and Trainer at TeneLearning (Tenerife):
"With our academic and practical expertise in entrepreneurship, we wanted to show participants that entrepreneurship is an exciting journey. However, it requires a solid understanding of business tools and frameworks, their practical application, a high level of commitment and motivation, as well as hard work and resilience."

Real Business Explorations in Puerto de la Cruz

The workshop began with a welcome breakfast at a family-run café, setting the stage for an engaging and practical learning experience. Participants had the opportunity to get to know each other while hearing firsthand from the café owners about their entrepreneurial journey — the challenges they faced, their motivations, and the realities of running a family business. This open discussion allowed attendees to ask questions and gain valuable insights from real-world experiences.

Following the breakfast, participants embarked on a guided tour around Puerto de la Cruz. The objective was to observe how different businesses operate and differentiate themselves in the market. This hands-on exploration provided participants with valuable examples of branding, customer engagement strategies, and the impact of strategic location on business success.

Understanding SWOT Analysis and Entrepreneurial Tools

The second day took place at the TeneLearning educational center, where participants engaged in group work. They were divided into small teams and interviewed each other about their experiences in entrepreneurship, their current position in their entrepreneurial journey, and their goals for the future.

A key focus of the day was the SWOT analysis tool. After an introduction to its significance — evaluating Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats—participants applied this framework to analyze the café they had visited the previous day. This theoretical and practical workshop covered essential entrepreneurial topics such as financing, securing capital, building a strong business team, organizing processes, and identifying unique selling propositions. Additionally, the discussion emphasized the importance of recognizing weaknesses and blind spots to improve operations, identifying opportunities in the market, and mitigating potential threats.

Gregorio Sambataro, Director and Project Coordinator at New Horizons APS (Italy):
"The training course in Puerto de la Cruz was a perfect continuation of the job we started in Tusa, Italy, with the international workshop on psychological support. Focusing on entrepreneurship, SWOT analysis, and study visits provided participants with a package of knowledge that they can use from now, taking inspiration to start their own business. We sowed the seed; now it's their move."

To conclude the day, each participant presented their SWOT analysis and unique selling propositions for various business models. These presentations allowed participants to refine their business strategies and practice public speaking in a supportive environment.

Hugo Grube, Director at Positive Panels (Latvia):
“This training not only helped me refine my business idea but also gave me the confidence and tools to pitch it effectively. Presenting my startup on CO2-negative insulation panels was a great experience, and the feedback I received will be invaluable in taking it to the next level.”

Coping with Entrepreneurial Challenges and Stress Management

Entrepreneurship is a journey filled with ups and downs. Recognizing this, the final day of the workshop focused on stress management and body language techniques. Participants learned how to handle unexpected challenges, stay resilient during difficult times, and maintain confidence through body language.

Practical exercises, including breathing techniques and body scanning, helped attendees understand how to manage stress effectively. These skills are crucial for entrepreneurs, as maintaining mental well-being is just as important as business acumen in ensuring long-term success.

Vaida Tufan, Director at IVAIGO (Lithuania):
“The entrepreneurship workshop was a fantastic opportunity to equip participants with practical skills and the inspiration to start their own ventures. The engagement and enthusiasm of the attendees demonstrated the real impact of fostering an entrepreneurial mindset. Looking forward to seeing their ideas grow!”

The Journey Continues

The workshop provided by TeneLearning equipped participants with essential entrepreneurial knowledge, practical tools, and the motivation to take the next steps in their business endeavors. By combining business strategy, personal development, and hands-on experiences, this workshop further empowered aspiring entrepreneurs to unleash their potential.

We look forward to seeing the innovative ideas that emerge from this experience and continuing our mission of fostering entrepreneurship through education and mentorship!
